I would like to certify that I used the services of Mr David Skinner as my Personal Trainer for 6 months in 2008. I had 2 to 3 hours of training every week.

Fitness programmes for all levels of capabilities, incorporating elements from various types of exercise.
Reached a plateau? At the gym every day?
Have days off! When training the body as a whole, allow at least 24 hours before your next session.
Weight Training Programs should be changed at minimum every 6 weeks.
Split Program? Your body’s nervous system is still getting abused each time you work out; give it a break and you will reach your gains quicker.
Every 6 weeks take a week off to give your body chance to re-charge for another 6 weeks of maximum efforts! Try a split program for example: Push / Pull
Choosing the best exercises, correct number of series and repetitions -- depending on if you are training for Mass, Power or Endurance.
Super sets, Compound sets, Drop sets, Functional Training, HIIT and Tabata are good ways to exercise making the most of your time spent training.
The National Academy of Sports Medicine (NAS) recommends:
General Exercise - 5-7 times a week of 30 minutes per session at a moderate intensity.
They also state that to improve:
Cardio-Vascular Fitness Levels - Exercise of 20-60 minutes 3-5 times a week.
Muscular Fitness - 2 times a week working major muscle groups for a time period of approximately 20 minutes.
Flexibility - Stretching should be done 3 times a week.

Running on the Treadmill or riding the bike and getting nowhere?

STOP the boring CARDIO!
Latest studies show that Interval Training (HIIT) & TABATA is more efficient at shifting unwanted fat.
Incorporate the HIIT with a weight training program and you will see results!
I recommend that you eat wholesome nautural foods and avoid where possible processed ready meals.
I recommend using an application like My Fitness Pal to record your levels of physical activity and foods consumed.
For weight loss to occur, your calorie intake should be slightly less than your calorie expenditure from activity. Physical activity and eating junk food with too many calories would not be helpful.
BORED OF THE GYM
Being Fit doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be paying for a gym membership and feeling guilty if you don't go. BUT - being fit means doing some kind of exercise regularly, eating well and being flexible enough that you are able to cope with life’s everyday scenarios. To be able to run for the bus, to play with your children or grandchildren without being out of breath!
Exercise can be taking your dog for a walk, using the stairs instead of taking the elevator! Move about as much as you can! If you want to get fitter and need a helping hand - ask me and we can discuss ways of getting you into shape without necessarily having to go to a gym. Most exercises can be done at your home or outdoors with little equipment needed - just a head full of ideas!
